Gamers For Good is a nonprofit charity that works to help gamers connect with causes that they can help impact. With the success of their last big artbook event, Gamer For Life, Gamers For Good is at is again, this time with an Undertale theme.
“With the participation and fundraising success of our last charity artbook, Gamers for Good is ready to do it again. This time around with Toby Fox’s blessing, we will be producing an Undertale Charity fan art book. Undertale challenged the way we as gamers played games, primarily what we thought was the standard way to play. It got us all talking, removing the “META” barriers, resulting in a deeply emotional experience. Toby Fox has granted us an unprecedented license including right for Kickstarter campaign launching Oct 18th.
Gamers for Good wants to challenge how the world thinks about mental health, remove the stigma. The proceeds of the Gamers for Good Presents: Undertale book will benefit three incredible gamer related charities who are working in the mental health space.” – GamersForGood.com
This project has garnered over 900 submissions for over 450 different artists and is estimated to be 250 pages long. There will also be an original soundtrack available also created by fans of Undertale. The soundtrack will be available at the $4 mark, while a digital version of the book is available at $15 and a physical copy at $33. For $2000 one fan has already secured their place on the front page with a custom painting and their name (among other rewards). The top tier, however, remains unclaimed at $10,000 and includes custom art on the final page and a cookie among many other rewards. Come on now. It’s a cookie. You know you want it.
Profits from the art book will go to Anxiety Gaming, Child’s Play, and TakeThis,Inc. Anxiety Gaming helps provide mental health resources for the gaming community, including helping those that otherwise could not afford it. Take This works to promote awareness and reduce the stigma of mental illness. Childs Play, probably the most well-known gaming-related charity, provides funding for hospitals and domestic violence shelters around the world.
Take a moment to go check out this project. It’s always great to see the community come together as a whole to support one another.
If you’ve never played Undertale before, it’s available for $9.99 on Steam and it comes highly recommended.
