Steam Greenlight Pick of the Week – ECHO
This Greenlight pick comes from Ultra Ultra, a small indie game studio out of Copenhagen, Denmark. This science-fiction title, ECHO tells the story of En, a rebellious girl raised in a rigid society obsessed with gaining access to a magical realm beyond death.
“All our songs were about it, a magical place of life without end. A palace of untold wonders, but only for the worthy.” – En, ECHO
People lived and died yearning to obtain access to this utopia, only to be denied. En, however, held a dark secret: she didn’t want to go. She had no interest in this magical place or the songs sung about it. When she ran away from her life and those in it, she never expected that she would be the one to find what could not be found, to obtain that which could not be obtained, and to be a nonbeliever walking in the palace of eternal life.
“After a century in stasis the girl En arrives at her destination: A Palace out of legend, a marvel of the old civilization eons gone, still awaiting its first human occupants. Out here, using forgotten technologies, she hopes to bring back a life that shouldn’t have been lost. But nothing could have prepared her for what she’ll face in the ancient halls below.” – ECHO‘s Greenlight page
With rather impressive graphics, sound effects, and voice acting, ECHO stands out from its fellow Greenlight contenders as a game to be taken seriously. It gives off a very Mass Effect vibe while still managing to hold on to it’s own original voice. All-in-all, ECHO is a breath of crisp, mountain-fresh air in the otherwise putrid cesspool that is Steam Greenlight. We here at GeekTFO look forward to it’s completed release with much anticipation and can’t wait to see more from Ultra Ultra.
